oh my god.
people are ridiculous.

121 (mostly inane) comments and counting...
anyone care to present a refreshing open-minded and culturally-experienced point of view? jeez!

well, at least the community is true to it's declaration, they do love a good flame war just because...

:)

heh heh. the 'gang mentality' is just so amazing. and immature.
and disheartening that i live among such 'close-minded, have never experienced anything remotely close to a varied life' morons.
oh well. i got my amusement for the evening. i can't believe people think that what they say has the power to upset others, and they don't realize how laughable they are. ah well.

why is it that the most closed minded people seem to have the most open mouth?

oh my god ... that's really ridiculous!
(and I can't remember if you or aquagirl said it, but I smell a bit of jealousy as well! or maybe fear of the unknown. perhaps the boys there would not know what to do if they saw lovely women in sexy clothing!)

ah, do you? i don't particularly smell jealousy (that was the aquagal). i smell mean-spirited, cruel, petty people attempting to feel good about themselves by cutting other people down.

so i guess what i smell is immaturity, stupidity and low self-esteem. definitely.

most healthy human beings don't need to ridicule and attack strangers 'for fun'. poor people.

Nope.

Healthy human beings put on burlesque shows, the pinnacle of human achievement, 'for fun.'

it will be a good time. i love it, it's fun and it makes me happy, and that's really my only point in the midst of all this rabblerousing.
i like to try to make the audience happy too, if i can, with my silliness.

and thank you.

exactly! so glad you get it now!
healthy human beings also handle a lot of responsibility in their day jobs, tutor people in english as a foreign language in their free time, and partake in many other volunteering opportunities and outside interests.

fun is whatever a person likes, as long as you're not hurting anybody.
live and let live, is what i say. too bad more people can't understand that idea.

I 'got it' all along. I just enjoy being facetious on occasion. I'm not one of the regular trollers in the roch_ny group, but it looked like quite a party.

Looking at pictures from one of your shows, though, there are a lot of points where I wonder what's being said/done - it seems like it might be interesting. Unfortunately, I'm but a poor, carless college student, so both my entertainment and employment options are limited.

do you know? i wouldn't b/c i generally avoid that community. for good reason, it seems.

I've only posted/read there on two occasions. One was in search of places to buy board games, one was in search of groups with which to play said games.

When checking to see if I had any new comments, I saw your post and the ensuing war. I find it all amusing, truthfully.

So, to actually answer your question, no, I don't know.

i find it amusing also, in general. but some uncalledfoe personal attacks are not. but i know what i opened myself up for when i post there. hell, if it gets juat 3 people through the door, than cool. it's 3 more people to support us and possibly 3 more friends.

... I don't think they're serious. I imagine that most flamers are fairly thoroughly detached and aloof, seeking to affect without being affected.

I may be wrong, though.

well, i think it's sad to throw around negative personal comments without thought, then. sad for them. you, at least, had a valid point.

Ratings for the Jamie Kennedy Experiment or the myriad reality shows on television today would suggest that human responses to stress are not 'sad,' but, rather, entertaining.

I think that's one of the reasons people flame - to see how people react, to sit back and watch how seriously people take something said facetiously. This may be more common among people who are naturally somewhat inept socially, and so lack insight into how people behave - in this respect, it may be as much an attempt to experiment and learn as it is an attempt at entertainment.

Other possible reasons might be pure rebellion against society and its inhabitants (let's see how much mayem we can cause!), or mere counterculture (let's see how much we can freak out the normals).

It is selfish, in that it's attempting to stir other people for one's own gratification, but it's a point of view I can understand sometimes.

yeah, i can understand those reasons and personality types theoretically. while social rebellion has been the very cause of wonderful changes in our world, rebellion/rabblerousing on a scale this small is nothing but annoying to me. i have no respect for things like that. to me, internet flaming is pathetic. but that's just me, and i realize that.

i also don't have that personality type to truly understand that point of view. i don't enjoy making others uncomfortable for my own amusement. quite the opposite, actually. but i try to keep my mind open to other perspectives. that's really all i ask from other people. it's not easy to look outside youself and your world, but it's really necessary.

hi! we had been students of pele's popular burlesque classes and workshops. after a few months of studying with her, she held auditions for the troupe. i think there will be a second round of auditions in june or july.
so you know what to expect, as not too many are familiar with us yet, besides the dancing skills, we also do intensive character work, as there is a lot of acting, comedy and improv involved in our shows.

i'm about to make a new post with pele's new class schedule and her contact info, so you should have all the info you need! :)

heh, no need to feel dumb! perhaps she's got another job i don't know about! ;)

check the latest post in this community, i posted the details on her new classes this afternoon. the classes are held at all-stars in henrietta. it doesn't sound like she's planning a burlesque 1 class, but i know she's got plenty of people interested and is considering adding one. her number's in the info i posted, give her a call! :)
